These videos are about how the trend you analyzed can be used to spark change in an area of social interest that your group agrees upon.
Background
The World Wide Web is a system of link documents that can be accessed through the internet. Using a Web browser, one can search the internet for text, images, and any other type of information needed. The World Wide Web was created by Tim-Berners Lee in 1989, but was not released until 1992. To gain access to the World Wide Web, all a person has to do is type in the URL of a popular web browser. The World Wide Web takes that person straight to the website he was looking for. Today, Internet explorer and Mozilla Firefox are the two most used web browsers in the world.
The World Wide Web is sometimes mistakenly used as a synonym for the Internet itself, but the Web is actually a service that operates over the Internet. The history of the Internet dates back further than that of the World Wide Web.
The World Wide Web has many different uses. You can use it to look for information which would only take a few minutes, play online games to kill time. The World Wide Web can be updated at anytime and by anybody who posts information on a web page. Without the World Wide Web we wouldn’t have things such as Email or even Google, which are the world’s largest search engine and has over one billion URLs. There are some people who even obtain fame from putting videos on the Web through websites like YouTube. The World Wide Web is also better for the environment with sites such as EBay and Amazon. There lots of web browsers for example Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and others.
Different Browsers Your Web browser is a translation device. It takes a document written in the HTML language and translates it into a formatted Web page. The result of this translation is a little like giving two human translators a sentence written in French and asking them to translate it into English. Both will get the meaning across, but may not use the same words to do so. Different Browser Versions The main major differences between two different versions of the same browser is their support for newer portions of the HTML language. However, Internet users tend to upgrade their browser based on the addition of new features, like email integration and instant messaging. If a user doesn't care about these features, they're happy to keep surfing the Web with their old browser as it clearly wont have such an effect on these users. That presents a problem for Web designers, because for some length of time after the new browser appears, a significant minority of people will still use the previous version. So rushing to build pages with the HTML features supported by the new browser will have to wait. Different Computer Types The Macintosh is still used by 12% of computer users, and has a very loyal following among graphic designers and publishers. In theory, if you view your page on both a PC and a Mac using the same version of the same browser, it should display the same, right? However this is rarely the case these are reasons for this:
Font Availability. When you tell your Web page to use a particular typeface, such as "Arial," you may not always get the font you want. Fonts are a computer resource, and not all computers have the same fonts as your computer. That's true even between different PCs, but it's especially true between the PC and the Mac. If the typeface of your page suddenly changes between these computers, you've probably used a font that isn't available on both computer types.
Internet Explorer. Microsoft outsources the development of Internet Explorer for the Mac, and so to a large extent this is a different browser from the PC version. In particular, the Mac version of Internet Explorer is prone to quirks and bugs that you won't see in the PC version. If you check your Web page under only one browser on the Mac, do so under Internet Explorer!
Different Screen Sizes If you don't test your pages using different screen resolutions, your page may be stretched to fit a large screen, or be cropped to fit a small screen. Many experienced Web designers use HTML tables to control their page layout, yet they design their pages on large, 1024x768 pixel screens. When these pages are displayed on smaller computer screens, the browser may not be able to fit all the content onto the screen. In these cases, the content will scroll of the right of the page. While this may not sound like much of a problem, users hate scrolling left and right to view a page. This problem should be easy to avoid, yet a surprising number of otherwise well-designed Web sites don't fit within the standard 800-pixel PC computer screen. This is especially a problem for pages built by graphic artists using a Macintosh, whose standard screen size is 1024x768. Many designers forget that designing for an 800-pixel screen means using roughly a 750-pixel layout. Many less experienced Web masters design their pages without tables, or dimension their tables to fit 100% of the screen width. If you've built your Web page this way on a computer with an 800-pixel screen, you may be surprised how your page is stretched to fit a larger screen. Text and graphics that were adjacent on your smaller screen may not be so on a large screen. This is because the majority of Internet users have a screen resolution of 800 pixels or less, it's a bad idea to design your site for a larger screen. Different Font Sizes Most browsers allow users to customize their default font size. Many users who work on computers all day do this to reduce eye strain. As a result, user preferences may cause the typeface that you used to design your Web page to increase as much as 50% larger in a user's browser. This increase in font size can hurt many carefully-planned page designs.
Another large problem that is often raised throughout different forms of web pages is the language barrier throughout different countries, they are able to access web pages but no understand the content of the page. This is usually when the browser in which the individual is using has connections to web pages, for example an English browser, including Spanish material. This has great advantages as it allows people of many different cultures to integrate and learn about different areas of the world, educating and supply people with a world rounded view on things. As with everything there is also negatives through this, it can cause great frustration to users as they are unable to understand different languages.
Today the World Wide Web is in the process of changing into virtual worlds. A couple of examples of virtual worlds include Second Life and Google Lively. A virtual world is simply another world on the internet. People can pick avatars, which are symbols of people on the internet, and their avatars can "live" on the internet.
The World Wide Web ("WWW", or simply "Web") is an information space in which the items of interest, referred to as resources, are identified by global identifiers called Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI). It is often confused as being analogues to the entire Internet, whereas in fact it is a major subset of it. The purpose of the WWW is to allow users to view or make use of more than just text (Wikipedia.)
The Web, officially launched as an offshoot of the Internet in 1989, has not been around that long. However, it has become a huge part of many people’s lives; enabling them to communicate, work, and play in a global context. The Web is all about relationships, and it has made relationships possible between individuals, groups and communities that otherwise would not have been possible. This Web is a community without borders, limits, or even rules and has become a true world of its own.
The Web was a giant experiment, a global theory, that has amazingly worked pretty well. Its history illustrates the ways that technological advancement and innovation can move along unintended paths. Originally, the Web and the Internet were created to be a part of a military strategy and not meant for private use. However, as in many experiments, theories, and plans, this didn’t actually happen.
The Web is a structure created by humans, and we find out about the world by surfing sites, checking email, instant-messaging, and observing bulletin boards. The guidelines of the Web are fluid. The Web is extremely vast, and we never know what we’re going to find. The Web, created by humans with human biases and human failings, is a technologically neutral tool, but each pixel on this network is infused with as much human bias and personality as humanly possible.
Analyze this topic's impact on education. Consider including three subcategories: 1) Elementary School, 2) Middle/ High School, and 3) College Education. Include a brief up to 300 word summary/ abstract on this page.Include one or more relevant images.
We have answers to any questions, and any information we may need right at our fingertips. Teachers can find new ways to teach and motivate the kids by using the world wide web.[1]
After the creation of WWW, it was immediately applied to education. Starting at the college level, WWWs slowly became common in high schools, middle schools, and then elementary schools. In 1998, 139 elementary schools in 9 countries were equipped with WWW technology. This number grew substantially over the years.
This new technology, significant changes were made in the classroom. According to Professor Janice Flake of Florida State University, the horizons of many students were expanded. New study techniques were formed as well as access to any information, beyond just what is taught in the classroom. This leads to the teaching of new study techniques. Additionally, the publishing of online information became easy, creating a new, connected global community.
However, the internet also had drawbacks. Certain topics, such as world history, was unsuccessfully taught online do to most students dislike of reading large texts online. Most students printed such work instead of reading it on the computer screen. Also, the internet was largely unregulated, leading to a need of censorship of offensive materials in schools. Nevertheless, the WWW were largely considered a major breakthrough in education that would only improve over time.
Elementary Teachers are using the World Wide Web to teach many subjects simply to get away from the boring book scene. One example of how they are using it is something that is called Virtual Tourist. This is a new way on the web that takes students on trips around the world.[2]
The World Wide Web has made a very big impact on college education. First of all, today there are online colleges where a person's entire college career can be done online. This is for people who may not have time to go to an actual college campus, and also online classes help people who may want to earn a higher degree in a certain field. Another way the World Wide Web can be used is that the professor can interact with anybody else in the world to help with a class. Interacting with other students around the world is very beneficial for students today. The World Wide Web has definitely affected the way college students learn.
Government, Politics and Employment
Government
The technological artifacts and processes used to the exchange and disseminate information has an effect on responsibility just like democracy. The later development of the World Wide Web fundamentally change the way we communicate. It changes the distributions of power, money, rights, or obligations. [3] The opportunities of using the World Wide Web result in the democracy having an increase scale and the reach of communication. It's a good opportunity for people all around the world to exchange information about politically sensitive matters at any time. Also it allows people to document their information and make it available to everyone else. It can also be said to have a democratizing effect on society due to the equal access it allows and to the promises it holds in the area of education(Bernd Carsten Stahl).
According to Gerry McGovern, "Web government is about helping citizens and businesses make easier, faster, better-informed decisions..." Two countries that have followed the trend of web government include Australia and the USA

Employment
The World Wide Web gives employees all around the world the opportunity to find jobs and gives the employers the opportunity to do business online. It also gives them the right to create their own business website for job seekers. Sites such as monster give people the opportunity to find jobs without having to leave home. Career seekers is also an excellent site to look for jobs. The World Wide Web helps employees discover information about the jobs they are interested in and the opportunities the job will offer them.
Besides helping people to find careers suitable for their desires and qualifications, the World Wide Web also enables employers to find prospective employees and see if they are appropriate for the position. Nowadays, it is not uncommon for an employer to Google a possible employee and see if the information on the web matches up to what is on their resume. If a person is Googled and it comes up with inappropriate images and such, they are unlikely to be employed. Sites like Rate My Teachers can be viewed by employers, and their employment may depend on their feedback - whether it be good or bad.
Not only does the internet help people find jobs, but new jobs have come with the invention of the internet. Jobs that didn't exist 13 or 14 years ago are suddenly popping up. But of course, with new opportunities of employment, people have to have employees who are properly trained for that field. Which, in turn, gives more courses in high school and college, more jobs to teachers and professors, and helps discover more problems which starts the whole circle over again. It is predicted that there will be over two million new jobs by the year 2012. There will also be new careers.
If someone needs help finding a job or needs help writing a resume, there are different websites that provide free sample resumes and resume writing services. Also some provide resume cover letters, tips, and templates to write great resumes. These are great tools that help guide people in their quest to write a professional resume when applying for a job.
Politics
The Web has a great impact on politics today. It is used to email, blog and interactive web sites have increased rapidly. Many politicians believe that the Internet is a more efficient and less costly source in comparison with mobile phones. Politicians are also using the Internet to raise money, organize get-out-and-vote efforts and assemble crowds for rallies. Many politicians also like using the web because they can target certain audiences by pod casts, blogging on web pages, or by emailing. Campaigns are now studying popular Internet social networks, like Friendster and Facebook, as ways of reaching groups of potential supporters with similar political views or cultural interests. The Internet is acting as a source for politicians to reach and persuade people. The Internet could actually replace TV for politicians.
The internet is also becoming a great help to those who are interested in learning more about politics. It is said that approximately 24% of Americans learn about the political campaigns from the Internet. The Internet is a source to young adults who want to learn more about politics. Even today, many people argue that it isn’t one of the most reliable sources out there.
Boswell, Wendy. "The World Wide Web." How The World Wide Web Has Changed Society. 21 Oct. 08 <http://http://websearch.about.com/od/whatistheinternet/a/usewww.htm>.
The World Wide Web has changed politics because now people can get information about politics any time they want. This could be a good or bad thing. The beneficial side of it is that people can learn more about candidates which allows them to make a more informed vote. The bad side of it would be seen through the candidates eyes. People can make up false information about them, or they can take one wrong quote said by a candidate and spread it all over the internet.
There is a growing literature on the use of the world wide web as a tool for political mobilization by the politically marginalized[4].
Last year’s Australian election brought about a new way to learn about politicians and their goals – YouTube.
The ALP (Australian Labor Party) were the first to use this new technology to promote their campaign, and it didn’t take the Liberal Party long to follow suit. Both parties created their own YouTube channels, and the current Prime Minister John Howard and the opposition leader Kevin Rudd both uploaded videos of their aims for the country’s future.
American President candidate Barack Obama has his own YouTube channel too.
John McCain even has his own MySpace!
Politics websites have popped up all over the world, making it easier for politicians to promote themselves and easier for the public to learn about politicians and decide who they would like to vote for.
Arts, Entertainment and Leisure
The World Wide Web plays an important role in many people’s lives all over the world today. It has changed people’s lives because we have access to just about any information we need. The World Wide Web has changed arts and entertainment because if somebody wants to know anything about an artist or actor, all they have to do is Google their name. The World Wide Web has also helped entertainment because many videos and CD’s are now on the internet. People can use websites to buy things that can also be bought at stores. This has made the sale of products increase rapidly.
The way the artists publicists have changed the way the publicize there artists has took a turn for the bad, since all you have to do is search for any artists of any genre of music, and you can buy there music and buy and any kind of product from any source of the world wide web. But there is a problem to this, the artists don't receive a profit from most of the pirated music that they make. That is one of the focuses of the internet and pirating anything, films, music. There are numerous way to pirate music off the world wide web and it has cost artists a substantial amount of money, from fans not buying the artists CD's and albums.[5]
These are positive outcomes of the World Wide Web, but there are negative ones too. For example, the World Wide Web is another way that people can horn in on celebrities' lives. Sometimes embarrassing things come out about stars through the internet. For example, a picture of Miley Cyrus was found on the internet and spread to many people. When she found out about it, she was very embarrassed and upset. Things like this can happen to anybody, so you should always be careful of what you put on the internet.
Leisure is definitely a reason people would use the World Wide Web. It is filled with countless websites, made solely for people with too much time on their hands. Many kids today use computers to find online games. Also, people use the World Wide Web to search for websites with useful information. The invention of the internet has helped students all over the world because before it was invented, we had to look in books to find information. Today, it can be found in a second.
The World Wide Web can help us find many things about arts, entertainment, and leisure. We can "Google" many things like movie times or find tickets for amusement parks for entertainment. You could also go online to find pictures or ideas for art. The World Wide Web is very useful in our everyday lives. Also, you can download music or go on YouTube for entertainment. There are many examples of entertainment that people can find on the internet. People can also go on the internet to find tips about art. The internet has changed many people's lives and for the most part it is for the better.
Science, Environment, and Health
The World Wide Web has impacted scientists and how they develop new material. Information of science on the WWW is necessary to scientists for both information regarding submission and awareness of developments in science. It impacted on the world by globally spreading the knowledge of science, environment and health worldwide.
Science has also benefited from using the web. The web has enabled scientists to share information with other scientists around the world without being in the same place. The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change) is one oganisation who uses the web to share information with others from different parts of the world.
The Web has a profound impact on traditional institutions such as the learning societies. The technology is qualified by experience and knowledge to information on the web. It brings structure to its material which makes it easier for readers. Institutions can play a valuable role and provide new technological and economic realities.
The Web has enabled patients in outback areas (long-distance from hospitals and medical assistance) to obtain professional help in medical emergencies or needing long term medical treatment. This can be done using video conferencing. The Royal Flying Doctors Servicein Outback Austalia is one service that uses video conferencing for medical assistance.[6]
Getting health information is the most common reason for going online. It is proven by surveys that 50% to 75% of the World Wide Web users have used it to look up health information. [7] Physicians are increasing experiences patients that brings printouts to the consultation. The potential impact of the wide availability of online health information on the practitioner-patient relationship has been debated [8] Proposals for improving the accountability of medical information on the internet will increase its value.
The World Wide Web is very important to the people and environment. The UN has launched some campaigns to try and help save the environment. For example, Plant for the Planet Program is one of these activities, and it aims to plant more trees on the earth and try to reach a target of a billion trees. Moreover, people use the World Wide Web to do some activities like writing articles about the environment and posting pictures and announcements. ENO organization uses the World Wide Web to connect people around the word in the environmental activities, and recently it has launched a campaign online aiming to plant trees and make people aware of the environmental issues. The World Wide Web is a good tool for this organization to make people aware of protecting the environment. People in different countries use the World Wide Webto discuss related issues about the environment.

Many kids today use computers to find online games. Also, people use the World Wide Web to search for websites with useful information. The invention of the internet has helped students all over the world because before it was invented, we had to look in books to find information. Today, it can be found in a second.
